茅膏菜科 (Droseraceae)
英文名 (English name): Indian Sundew

Status in China: Least Concern (LC)

Description: Annual herbs, 6-38 cm tall, without tubers below the ground. Stem erect or procumbent, Leaves alternate, linear, 2-12 cm long, 1-3 mm wide, covered with white or red long glandular hairs; stipule absent; petiole short glandular-hairy or glabrous. Inflorescence axillary or leaf opposed; bracts linear, glandular; pedicels 0.6-1.0 cm long, glandular; sepals 5, lanceolate to oblong, 4 mm long, glandular abaxially, margin entire or glandular; petals white, light red or reddish violet, obovate to oblanceolate, 4 mm long; stamens 5, 5 mm long; ovary obovate or globose, styles 3, each one deeply 2-parted nearly to base, usually incurved. Capsule obovoid, 3-valved, 4-6 mm long. Seeds numerous, small.

Distribution: Cape D'Aguilar, Tung Chung. Taiwan, Fujian, Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi. Tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Africa, Australia.

Habitat and ecology: In wet places. Flowering & fruiting: all year round.

It is an insectivorous plant and plays a special role in an ecosystem. Natural population is small and susceptible to habitat destruction. Ex-situ conservation measures could be explored.
