Status in China: Critically Endangered (CR)
 
Description: Terrestrial orchids; pseudobulbs ovate, dark green or purple-red, one-leafed at apex. Leaves lanceolate, 30-45 cm long, 4.5-5.3 cm wide, each with a prominent purple vein on abaxial surface; petiole 15-25 cm long. Scape erect, 30-45 cm tall. Flowers dark red-yellow; sepals and petals 2.7-3.5 cm long, with 3-5 purple veins; lip white, trilobed, with purple veins and spots; mid-lobe clawed; disc with 5 pleats extending to middle of mid-lobe; column white with purple spots, 12 cm long.

Distribution: Sai Kung, Sha Tau Kok. Guangxi (Pingnan), very rare.

Habitat and Ecology: On shade and wet places under bamboo forests. Flowering: Mar.

This orchid species was first discovered in 1968 from Pat Sin Range. It is a rare species with fragmented distribution and small population size. In Hong Kong, the localities of its occurrence are in Country Parks, so habitats of the plants are protected. This species is also protected by the Forestry Regulations (Cap. 96 sub. leg.) and the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance (Cap. 586).
